what's in a name
To understand our name, "The Manasseh Connection", we must look at the story of Joseph. Joseph is an important figure in the Old Testament known for his role in preserving the Israelites and demonstrating God's faithfulness. He endured overwhelming betrayal and trauma from being sold in slavery by his brothers, being falsely accused of a crime and being imprisoned. Because of Joseph's spiritual ability to interpret dreams, specifically Pharoah's, Joseph became a high official in Egypt and saved the entire region from the effects of a severe famine, thus preserving the Israelite nation from death.

The name 'Manasseh' is seen in Scripture in Genesis 41:51. Joseph was able to have his entire family relocate to Egypt to escape the effects of the widespread famine in the land. In this chapter, Joseph is presenting his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim for his father, Jacob, to bless them. Verse 51 says, "And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: for God, said he, has made me forget all of my hardship and all of my father's household."

Joseph's willingness to forgive his brothers despite their betrayal is a powerful example of love and reconciliation through Christ. His ability to serve a heathen leader and a pagan nation through God's spiritual gift is an additional example of empowerment to go and serve Christ and others.

It is the heart of The Manasseh Connection to CONNECT people with the message of hope and love, as well as CONNECT people with others in the Kingdom of God.

The olive tree is one of the symbols of Joseph's tribe. An olive branch symbolizes peace and reconciliation. Additionally, it represents the end of conflict and the beginning of new relationships. Genesis 8:11 gives insight to the olive branch being a symbol of God's covenant with man, providing a fresh hope and new beginning. We believe the olive tree best represents our mission.
